Overtime Calculator
Enter your week and your rate. The receipt shows which hours are overtime, which day each overtime minute fell on, and the rule that made it overtime. Choose federal rules (over 40 a week) or California rules (daily and weekly).
Overtime rules: federal.
Type times the way you think of them: 7:00 AM, 7am, 0700 or 19:30. Times without AM or PM are read as 24-hour. Break is the unpaid break in minutes; type 0 for none. Leave days off empty.
The PDF is a one-page US Letter timesheet with your days, totals, pay and signature lines for you and your supervisor.
Calculated on this device. Your times aren’t sent anywhere. The week you’re entering is kept in this browser only, so a reload doesn’t lose it. Privacy

How overtime is counted
Federal rules: hours over 40 in one workweek are overtime, paid at 1.5 times your regular rate. The workweek is a fixed 7 days set by your employer; this calculator starts it on Monday.
California rules: hours over 8 in a day and over 40 in a week are overtime at 1.5x, hours over 12 in a day are double time, and the seventh workday in a row has its own rule.
Not every job is covered by overtime rules. Salaried exempt staff and some other jobs aren’t. If you’re not sure, ask your employer or your state labor department.
